The Lady of the Camellias

Book cover

This project reimagines Alexandre Dumas fils' 1848 classic with a fresh visual approach that resonates with modern readers. Moving away from outdated illustrations and uninspired photography, the designer combines delicate line art and photography to create a striking, symbolic cover. A minimal white background highlights a simple contour of Marguerite Gautier’s face, crowned with a vivid pink camellia—her signature flower and a key symbol in the story. Clean slab serif typography balances historical nods with a modern feel, while the pink gradient adds emotional depth. The result is a refined, contemporary design that honors the novel’s legacy and invites a new audience to engage with its enduring themes.
